Welcome to True Blue GardenScapes, the succession of Lysergy GardenScapes, first established in 2005.
One of my favourite events in ecology is succession.
It is ongoing.
The layers of growth, arriving in unfettered time to support the growing needs of the surrounding flora and fauna. Sunlight, shade, form and function.
Whether it a clearing with whisps of alder sprouting out of the barren earth, fireweed, clovers. The birds flock, dropping in berry seeds from their travels, of salmonberry, thimble berry. Emerging.
Soon enough, there is a humus base rich enough to support the vine maples, those quick-growing alders shedding their leaves to feed a succession of growth. Branches to support the chickadees and their feathered friends. Sites to build nests, raise the next generation. Feasting on the huckleberry bushes.
A drive to connect people outdoors, urban people living alongside yet remote from nature, cultivating that long held culture of the seasons. The dream grew into alyssa + synergy = Lysergy GardenScapes. Definition of “synergy” is the collection of small parts to create a larger whole.
Supporting gardens of leaders and doctors, youth and elders alike. Be it from the garden or the forest trail to recreating the forest trail in one’s own backyard.
Bringing my deep understanding of ecology to the minutiae of microclimates on the west coast. Observing that that salal is only happy to grow once it has a foundation of broken down timbre from that windstorm in 2008.
The restorative climate of a storm, opening a clearing in a heavily forested area allowing for light to reenter. A once very different understory. Light hungry berry bushes fed again by the gained sunlight, saplings waiting in the shadows warm their young branches and reach to the sky. Succession in its fluid form, fulfilling the needs of the forest with nurse logs to nourish the regeneration of growth, from huckleberries to hemlock.
A youth may also only grow in the forest once a foundation of trust and understanding is found. Then growth suddenly soars. An introduction of mutual benefit.
Ecology. [ ] The weeds that cease to bother when the soil is rich and thriving, or that pervasive plant that is actually your ally, a medicine. So the harvest begins! Or the yarns of the next community weaving project, the ivy found coiling long unseen. A sustainable stewardship of eternal reciprocation.
The garden expresses itself in similar manners. Be it a design to create a formal space to calm a colourful mind, to a host of dancing blooms for historical garden parties.
Cultivating these connections. The synergy of Lysergy. With homage to roots beside the Pacific Ocean true, the overlooking mountains blue. True Blue. Our West Coast career. Growing with you.
With a gentle hand armed with the right tool, we nurture gardens to a sustainable place. A space that in return fulfills the unique intentions of our client.
